Business Model Design

Design how your business creates, delivers, and captures value.

Building Future Strategies

A business model is the blueprint of how your company makes money — who you serve, what you offer, how you reach them, how it gets delivered, and what it costs to do it. At Bonyad, we don’t hand you a Business Model Canvas and walk away. We work through every block with you, stress-test the economics, and pressure-test the assumptions until what’s left is a model you can actually execute against. Whether you’re shaping a new venture, repositioning an existing one, or evaluating a pivot, we help you find the configuration that makes the business work.

Q: How is this different from a business plan? A: A business plan describes what you’ll do; a business model defines how the business works structurally. The model comes first — the plan operationalizes it.

Q: I already have a Business Model Canvas. Do I still need this? A: A canvas is a one-page summary. We use it as a starting point, but a real model design includes financial validation, channel economics, and competitive defensibility — all of which a canvas alone can’t capture.

Q: How long does a business model engagement take? A: Typically 3–5 weeks depending on complexity and how much data is already available.

Q: Can you redesign the model of an established business? A: Yes. Many of our engagements are repositioning exercises for businesses facing margin compression, market shifts, or stalled growth.

Why It Matters

  • Revenue Without Margin Isn’t a Business — Many companies grow top-line while quietly losing money on every unit. We surface the unit economics early.
  • Founders Confuse Product With Model — A great product inside a broken model still fails. Model design forces clarity on monetization, channels, and cost structure.
  • Investors Buy the Model, Not the Idea — A clear business model is the difference between a passing pitch and a funded one.
  • Pivots Happen Without Models — Without a defined model, teams pivot reactively. With one, every change is a deliberate decision.

Outcomes You Can Expect

  • A defensible, documented business model your team can execute against
  • Clarity on which customer segments to prioritize and which to drop
  • Validated unit economics with break-even and contribution-margin scenarios
  • A model investors can evaluate in one page
